Uji Daya Ekstrak Daun Asam Jawa terhadap Bakteri Staphylococcus Aureus

Indonesia is rich in diverse flora. The culture of using traditional medicinal plants for health in Indonesia originated in the royal environment, although in fact, in the wider community there is also a custom of treatment with plants or concoctions, one of which is tamarind leaves. The antibacterial properties of tamarind leaves are very relevant to the increasing need to address bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Tamarind leaves are a medicinal plant that can be used for safe and side-effect-free alternative treatments using herbal chemicals. Chemicals found in tamarind leaves are often used in medicine as hidden raw materials to treat diseases. Phytochemicals known as tamarind leaf extract (Tamarindus indica L.) are known to contain chemical elements such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins that give tamarind leaves their medicinal qualities. This study aims to determine the ability to inhibit bacterial growth in tamarind leaves. This type of research is experimental research by testing the antibacterial properties of tamarind leaves using the well method. Thus, the tamarind leaf extract shows that tamarind leaf extract has the ability to inhibit bacterial growth due to the content of active compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. Which means that both treatments that the author has carried out were all successful, in the first treatment there was a 0.3 diameter inhibition zone and in the second treatment there was a 0.5 diameter inhibition zone.
